Cucine LUBE, Inoxa and Fab took part in the Marche Regional Government's “PROMOTION OF INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN THE TECHNOLOGY/MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES” (POR MARCHE FESR 2007-2013/INITIATIVE 1.1.1.04.02) project, in developing and designing a prototype barrierless kitchen.
Research and innovation are the values which guided the development of the Friendly Kitchen prototype, a kitchen accessible to all, regardless of special requirements for reduced mobility.
The project is an expression of the “Human Centred Design” concept, according to which it is the users needs as well as those of the product itself which guide the development of alternative projects and interactive prototypes. The study focused in particular on the potential interactions with the space of users with reduced mobility. The Friendly Kitchen design offers solutions capable not only of improving the user experience, but also reducing or even eliminating restrictions on mobility and use.
The kitchen's modules are equipped with ergonomic components which reflect the concept of “Design For All”: the aim is to satisfy the multifarious needs of users in the kitchen by promoting flexibility and adaptability, and enabling structural changes to adapt to the needs of users as they age.
The Friendly Kitchen design is innovative and original, and aims to eliminate potential barriers to use by focusing on the user and his or her needs.
