The project created for Gruppo LUBE won the award at the fifth Inspiring Innovation event organised by Var Group as part of the Mastertech convention.

The annual convention of Var Group, an event dedicated entirely to artificial intelligence, has just ended. This year it also hosted Mastertech, the hackathon in which forty-three young talents from the universities of Palermo, Naples, Ancona, Bologna and Rome faced each other in a 32-hour marathon on development of projects for enterprise. The students, between 19 and 23 years of age, were divided into nine groups and developed a project based on Artificial Intelligence, using the needs of seven companies as their inspiration.

Gruppo LUBE won the prestigious award, thanks to the project developed by Team Scrapp using HP Enterprise - Microsoft Azure technology. The team of students created the winning project based on the need of the customer, Gruppo LUBE, to maintain constant control over the company image conveyed by its retailers, distributors and mono-brand stores. The project involves periodic monitoring of the stores and the on-line channels with respect to two key aspects: the Policy of Use of the Brand and Authorisation on product promotional campaigns. The students were given a list of subjects and asked how to ensure automatic monitoring of on-line communication channels such as the website, social media, etc., analysing how the logo is used on them and, through image recognition and OCR mechanisms, automatically understand the presence of promotional messages relating to the brand. However, the most important award was won by the members of the team who worked on the LUBE project, as each of them received a prize of €3000 and the opportunity to continue working with Var Group.
